Non-Senate Permission to Recruit/Layoff Clearance

Purpose
of the
PTR process

Seek permission to create a position and to get the position classified
APO determines if there is anyone in layoff status in the title
(layoff policy does not apply to Academic Senate members or to students)
When the position is for more than a year at more than 50% time,
affirmative action procedures are followed, i.e. approval of ad language

Continuing Education Specialist
Coordinator of Public Programs
Field Work Consultant/Supervisor

Librarian Series
Postgraduate Research Series
Professional Research Series
Specialist Series

Titles that are
exempt from the
PTR process

Positions which give membership in the Academic Senate
Instructional titles
Student titles (GSR)
Visiting titles (e.g. Visiting Postdoctoral)
