Non-Senate Permission to Recruit/Layoff Clearance

Purpose
of the
PTR process

  • Seek permission to create a position and to get the position classified
  • APO determines if there is anyone in layoff status in the title
    (layoff policy does not apply to Academic Senate members or to students)
  • When the position is for more than a year at more than 50% time,
    affirmative action procedures are followed, i.e. approval of ad language

  • Academic Coordinator
  • Continuing Education Specialist
  • Coordinator of Public Programs
  • Field Work Consultant/Supervisor
  • Librarian Series
  • Postgraduate Research Series
  • Professional Research Series
  • Specialist Series


Titles that are
exempt from the
PTR process

  • Positions which give membership in the Academic Senate
  • Instructional titles
  • Student titles (GSR)
  • Visiting titles (e.g. Visiting Postdoctoral)
